Archived tips :
Arsenal vs Newcastle
Shooter : The Gunners breezed past McClaren's FC Twente troops, who were obviously given a pre-match pep-talk in his dodgy Dutch accent. They'll be looking for a backlash after losing at Fulham, but the Magpies are improving - with Owen looking sharp against Coventry - and will draw on their point at Old Trafford. I've got a feeling the Toon will score but will just be egded. 2-1
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Home Win
Looter : The Magpies could not have asked for harder away games to start their Premier League campaign, but will take confidence from the opening-day draw at Old Trafford. But many of their defensive frailties came back to haunt them at Coventry in midweek, and with key player James Milner having asked to leave, I think another away draw might just be asking too much. 2-1
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Home Win
Bolton vs West Brom
Shooter : Both teams are licking their wounds after humiliating Carling Cup exits to lower-league opposition in midweek, and although it's too early to say it's likely that they both face a long survival fight this season. There's a bit of spice to this as Megson was sacked by the Baggies, who have played nicely but lacked cutting edge in two opening Prem defeats. The Trotters are very strong at home, as they showed against Stoke, and should ensure lightweight Albion's wait for their first point of the season goes on with an easy win. 3-0.
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Draw
Looter : The Trotters have already despatched of one promoted team at The Reebok this season but face a very different challenge in West Brom to that of Stoke. Unfortunately for the Baggies, they go into this one with confidence pretty zapped and I can't see much changing for them at a Bolton side, whose rough and tumble style, must just upset Mowbray's men. 2-0
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Draw
Aston Villa vs Liverpool
Shooter : Both sides will be pretty weary after their midweek exploits in Europe, but Villa have turned their home ground into a fortress and it'll be interesting to see if Gareth Barry starts against his summer suitors. Rafa's Reds will be hard to break down so I don't think there'll be many goals, either a 0-0 or 1-1 I reckon.
Prediction : Draw Actual Result : Draw
Looter : Liverpool looked far from their best in midweek as they made it - by the skin of their teeth - into the Champions League proper. Some might say they have needed good fortune to remain unscathed so far this season (against Liege twice and in the Prem against Sunderland and Boro) and one might suspect their luck might be just about to run out. Add to that the absence of one Steven Gerrard and I think Villa - still angry at their last-gasp defeat at Stoke last week - might just grind out a win. 1-0
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Draw
Chelsea vs Tottenham
Shooter : Spurs are Russian to get Pavlyuchenko on board in time for this tough encounter, but Ramos is still likely to continue with Darren Bent as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 line-up at the Bridge in a bid to contain the Blues' powerful midfield. Tottenham are historically slow starters and are pointless after two defeats, while Big Phil's Chelsea have flown out of the traps, inspired by the artful Deco. This has to be a home win for me, as the Blues are almost untouchable on home turf unless United or Arsenal roll into town. 3-0.
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Draw
Looter : When the chips are down, the last thing you want is an away tie against your bogey side. And when that bogey side just happens to be 100 per centers Chelsea, then you start to fear the worst. A point is very much a bonus for Spurs here - unfortunately I just cannot see how they might get it. 2-0
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Draw
Sunderland vs Man City
Shooter : City will arrive in the North-East a little weary from their Euro clash but in fairly good shape after opening their Prem account against West Ham. SWP has rejoined their ranks, but Sunderland have got some real momentum going and now have plenty of attacking options with the likes of Cisse and Healy up front. I reckon 3-1
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Away Win
Looter : You have to admire Roy Keane the signings he has made this season - every one of which has improved their side and the manager's options. Djibril Cisse represents a really shrewd investment and if he starts, as expected, in this one, expect him and El-Hadji Diouf to conjure up a win to follow up their triumph at White Hart Lane last week. 2-1
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Away Win
Celtic vs Rangers
Shooter : It's tight at the top in the SPL, with these two Old Firm rivals level pegging with Kilmarnock on seven points. Rangers look weak in attack, though, and I think this will be exposed at Parkhead. The Bhoys have goal-scoring options all over the park, so I think they'll draw first blood in the title race. 2-0
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Away Win
Looter : The Bhoys go into this one with a bit of a striker crisis up front with Scott McDonald, Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and Shaun Maloney all doubts. But Rangers have an appalling away record in the SPL under Walter Smith (just one away win in 10 against last season's top six), while Celtic can boast wins in nine of the last 13 Old Firm games at Parkhead. Therefore, although I think it might be tight, I can't see anything other than another home success. 1-0
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Away Win
Hull City vs Wigan Ath
Shooter : The Tigers' tenacious start to the season came to a halt with a 2-1 Carling Cup defeat at Swansea, but a host of first-teamers were rested so don't read too much into it. Wigan on the other hand put in a four-star performance to beat Notts County, with Henri Camara catching the eye with a double. He's likely to make way for Heskey at the KC Stadium, but I've got a sneaky feeling they're going to see off Latics, who were pretty dire at West Ham. 2-1
Prediction : Home Win Actual Result : Away Win
Looter : Latics were beaten 2-1 in their opening away fixture at West Ham a fortnight ago where two early laspses cost them a match they went on to dominate. Although they'll travel to a partizan, not to mention unbeaten Hull City, the Tigers may just find the brute force of Emile Heskey and the pace of new boy Amr Zaki too hot to handle. 0-2
Prediction : Away Win Actual Result : Away Win
Everton vs Portsmouth
Shooter : Both Pompey and the Toffees should be ready to get stuck in as they didn't play in midweek. That'll suit Moyes' men better than Harry's troops as Everton beat the Baggies at The Hawthorns, while Pompey prop up the Prem table after two opening defeats. Those losses have been against Chelsea and Man United, however, and with Defoe and Crouch up front Pompey will soon start firing. I expect these two to be major contenders for fifth place again this season, so am going for a score draw. 1-1 or 2-2.
Prediction : Draw Actual Result : Away Win
Looter : It's been a tough old start for Harry's boys this term and as far as they're concerned, the season will start here after beatings by last season's top two in their first two games. They will have to do with star man Krancjar (ankle) but they're more than capable of getting their first point on board against an Everton side, who themselves look to be heading into quite a turbulent campaign. 1-1
Prediction : Draw Actual Result : Away Win
West Ham vs Blackburn
Shooter : There was talk of mutiny at Ewood before the season began, but Ince has got Rovers on a real roll and they head to London full of confidence after a midweek grilling of Grimsby. West Ham also won 4-1 in the cup, but only after extra-time, and looked pretty poor against Man City. It'll be close but I reckon a Roque-inspired 2-1 away win.
Prediction : Away Win Actual Result : Home Win
Looter : Rovers despatched of Everton in their last game on the road and have made quite a confident start to the season under new gaffer Paul Ince. Goals don't seem hard to come by either and the presence of Jason Roberts and Roque Santa Cruz could fire them to another win on the road against a Hammers side feeling both the financial squeeze and the knives sharpening for boss Alan Curbishley. 0-2
Prediction : Away Win Actual Result : Home Win
Middlesbro' vs Stoke City
Shooter : The Potters are still buzzing after their last-minute win over Villa, and took that momentum into their Carling Cup game at Cheltenham, who were outmuscled 3-2. The likes of Lawrence and Fuller will return, but although Boro suffered stoppage-time heartache at Anfield, they showed their confidence was still intact with a 5-1 midweek mauling of Yeovil at The Riverside. This should actually be a decent clash as Stoke aren't as direct as some might think. Pulis has learned from their Bolton battering and will be more defensive, but I reckon it'll be a 2-2 draw.
Prediction : Draw Actual Result : Home Win
Looter : The Potters will travel to the Riverside with their tails very much up having disposed of Aston Villa last weekend. But Boro are flying high themselves and scoring goals for fun. Psychologically they often struggle against some of the top flight's lesser lights, but if they can get that right, they should have too much firepower for Stoke. 3-1
